Exciting News: Horizon CDT Researchers to Present at BILETA 2025!

We are thrilled to share some fantastic news from our Horizon CDT researchers!

Ellie Colegate (2021 cohort) and Hannah Heilbuth (2022 cohort) have had their joint paper accepted at the BILETA 2025 conference, a leading event for law, technology and education.

Their paper, The Harm of Misunderstanding ‘Harm’ – Exploring the Importance of Linguistic Clarity When Considering Regulatory Definitions of ‘Online Harm’, explores how misunderstandings of key terms can impact policymaking and enforcement. This is a significant achievement, showcasing their collaborative research in this dynamic field.

But that’s not all…

Ellie has also had a single-author paper accepted at the same conference! 🎉

The paper, titled Too Boring to Be Banned? – Exploring Australia’s Under-16 Social Media Prohibition, Stakeholder Reactions, and Potential Lessons for the United Kingdom, examines the implications of Australia’s recent policy and what the UK can learn from it.
