We are thrilled to highlight our distinguished alum, Horia Maior, a member of Horizon CDT’s 2012 cohort.
During his time at Horizon CDT, Horia conducted groundbreaking multidisciplinary PhD research in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Human Factors (HF), focusing on using brain and physiological data to advance HCI research.
Horia’s career is a testament to academic excellence, innovation and meaningful contributions to the field of Computer Science and HCI. Horia is currently a Transitional Assistant Professor with Horizon and the School of Computer Science at the University of Nottingham, a position he has held since August 2021. Most recently, Horia has also been co-leading the Brain (and Physiological) Data Group, which focuses on exploring the role of Mental Workload in our everyday interactions with technologies.
Horia is also dedicated to mentoring future leaders in the field. As a Horizon PhD supervisor, he provides guidance and support to his students, and continues to drive research funding and collaboration, as demonstrated by his successful efforts in securing grants.
