Steve Benford, Horizon Co-Investigator and Dunford Professor of Computer Science will be delivering a lecture as part of the University of Nottingham Institute for Policy and Engagement Science Public Lecture Series on Thursday 17th October in B1 Physics Building, University Park Campus (6.00-7.00pm).
In this lecture entitled Broncos, Cats and Dancers: how art can provide more meaningful Artificial Intelligence, Steve will talk about his interest in extending AI to enable humans to make meaning of themselves, of the wider world and of AI as part of this world. He will also be reflecting on a series of artworks which range from a breath controlled mechanical rodeo bull, to a robot designed to play with cats, to dancers engaging in improvised bodily contact with manufacturing robots to explore how artistic practice and thinking can transform AI.
