The RCUK Digital Economy Theme is led by EPSRC (also on behalf of AHRC and ESRC).
We would like to remind all Digital Economy researchers that, although the Theme has historically issued several managed calls for proposals in specific areas, the three Research Councils involved in the Theme have ‘standard mode’ funding available.
Proposals can be submitted through standard mode to any Research Council at any time, as long as the research proposed is over 50 per cent in the remit of that Research Council. Additionally, please be reminded of the cross-council funding agreement.
Within EPSRC, funding for proposals through the standard mode (community-driven research) should be considered to take forward exciting and novel research ideas. Digital Economy researchers are free to submit proposals to EPSRC, as long as the research proposed is over 50 per cent in EPSRC’s remit.
If you are not sure whether your research falls within the EPSRC majority remit you can contact our Remit Group, who will consult colleagues in other Research Councils.
Please note: proposals should be submitted before or during September 2017 to be considered for funding during the next financial year (i.e. before 31st March 2018).
Standard Grants are very flexible, with the scale of projects supported ranging from small value, short term grants to multi-million pound research programmes. High risk/high return research proposals, embracing new concepts or techniques, are particularly encouraged.
