Sarah Martindale and Ben Bedwell, along with Rob Phillips and Micaella Pedros from the RCA, have designed a participatory workshop for the V&A’s Digital Design weekend on 24/25 September to showcase Horizon’s Growing Data project. The project aims to address behavioural change and improvement in well-being, linked to the completion of self-selected goals by investigating ways in which ‘growing’ plants can be manipulated in order to communicate information and provide feedback from digital systems. People visiting the workshop will be invited to make and take home their own simple hydroponic system, and help experiment with new design ideas to connect plants and technologies. Feedback on horticultural successes and healthy harvests will be encouraged.
