The Urban Gaming project engages with Active Ingredient, an artistic collective, in developing a pilot urban game for Woolwich, commissioned by Stream Arts. The game ‘Exploding Places’ aims to build a new experience for the Woolwich area, providing a perspective of Woolwich which is future looking and responds to the lack of cohesion or positive images reflected in the communities who live and work in Woolwich.
The project aims to use mobile urban gaming to explore the technical issues and opportunities in moving from fixed in-house service/ hosting to the cloud-based service provision envisioned by Horizon.
The project also presents an opportunity to explore with community groups and members of the public, social and cultural perspectives on ubiquitous computing.
