UoN School of Computer Science – Transitional/Assistant/Associate Professor posts

The School of Computer Science at University of Nottingham is advertising three Transitional/Assistant/Associate Professor posts.  These will contribute to a new £6.5M research programme in “Somabotics: Creatively Embodying Artificial Intelligence”, funded by UKRI and led Horizon Co-Investigator Professor Steve Benford.

Areas of interest include:

  • Soft robotics and interactive materials to augment robot and human bodies.
  • Creative AI, for example models that enable interactive touch and live improvisation.
  • Embodied HCI, for example soma design, and practice- and artist-led methods.

As a Transitional Assistant Professor, you will be a promising early career researcher with the potential to develop an international reputation.

You will undertake research in a multidisciplinary team, leading projects and publishing high-quality research papers, and be mentored to develop your own research proposals.

You will have the potential to deliver a high standard of teaching through a variety of methods to support the School’s teaching requirements, within your area of expertise.

Initially, you will focus on research with a greatly reduced and managed teaching responsibility, being supported to develop in all aspects of the Assistant Professor role.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Steve Benford.  Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
